๐ Dirk

Entry #003 โ Partial transcript reconstructed from tour notes, setlists, and unreleased cassette tape interviews. Some editorialization inevitable.

Dirk was the kind of frontman you only get from cities like Nayasa Bay โ half-stray dog, half-vinyl prophet.
He didnโt just sing like he meant it. He sang like if he didnโt, something might actually snap inside him.
Left-handed. Loud. All nerves, all heart.
You could hear him cracking open mid-verse and still finishing the set like it was his last night on Earth.
I never saw him fake it. I donโt think he could if he tried.
๐ธ Role in Downvent
- Lead vocalist, guitarist, core lyricist
- Formed Downvent with Dylan and Derek in a garage that shouldโve been condemned
- Known for playing a battered left-handed Stratocaster (often duct-taped)
- Wrote most of All Right All Right, Spirits on the Highway, and the first draft of Some Space on the floor of Graveline Park
๐ญ Personal Notes
He hated interviews. Always said the band โwasnโt a product.โ
But there were moments when he’d be sitting on the van roof after a show, flipping through a notebook, and heโd start telling me stories behind the songs โ like he needed someone to carry them in case he forgot.
I think this archive might be for that version of him.
Some nights, when the static quieted down, he’d let me see the version of himself no one else got.
Whether that version ever made it off the roadโฆ Iโm still not sure.
He never asked me to start this.
But he gave me the pieces.
โ ๏ธ Notes on Reliability
Some accounts of Dirk contradict each other.
Thatโs fine.
This is a file, not a statue.
