π Jace Hollow
Filed by L. Wren
Entry #009 β Constructed from live tapes, torn flyers, and what people remember when they donβt want to talk about him.

He made the noise mean something. Then he left the rest of us with the echo.

ποΈ Overview
Jace wasnβt the kind of frontman who asked for permission.
He didnβt ask for forgiveness either.
He walked into rooms like he was already late for something you hadnβt even scheduled.
When he sang, people stopped breathing.
Bad Roof didnβt orbit Jace.
Jace was the fire, and they were just playing close enough to get burned but not enough to die.
Until he did.
He wasnβt a martyr.
He wasnβt a prophet.
He was a singer who meant it.
And that was enough to make people build mythology around him the second he was gone.
π€ Role in Bad Roof
- Lead vocalist, lyricist, band nucleus
- Known for his raw, cracked vocals and refusal to do second takes
- Reportedly once yelled βMake it worse!β mid-session during a label recording
- Performed in boots held together by tape and paint marker
- Died in the alley behind Whispering Stacks not long after the release of In the Water Damage
π§· Scene Notes
- Graveline Park mural is based on a photo from a show at The Spill in 1992
- βThe Roof Never Fellβ slogan began appearing weeks after his death β no oneβs claimed it
- Luna found a flyer with a burned corner and the word βhollowedβ scrawled over his name
- Some say he was clean. Some say he was wrecked. Everyone says something different.
π Personal Commentary
I donβt think Jace wanted to be worshiped.
I think he wanted to disappear before anyone got close enough to see what wasnβt finished.
Stan said the band never rehearsed.
Not once.
He said that was the point.
